About us
This van valuation site is run by HTML Studio, a UK-based digital publisher specialising in consumer information tools and guides.
Why we built this
We created this free van valuation tool because getting a realistic estimate of what your van is worth shouldn't require signing up to a service, handing over your email address, or paying for a report.
The UK van market is significant—over 315,000 light commercial vehicles were registered in 2025 according to SMMT data—but most online valuation tools either require payment, push you straight to a buyer, or give vague "guides" without showing their working.
We wanted to build something transparent: a tool that shows you the maths, cites its sources, and gives you a realistic trade and private-sale estimate based on published manufacturer list prices, ONS inflation data, and depreciation patterns from SMMT and industry reports.
Our independence
We are not:
- A van dealer or buying service
- Owned by or affiliated with any manufacturer, dealer group, or valuation provider
- An "official partner" of Cap HPI, Glass's, webuyanyvan, Carwow, or any other service
Our valuations are independent estimates. We don't buy vans, we don't broker sales, and we're not connected to the companies we link to beyond standard affiliate programmes.
How we make money
We earn affiliate commissions if you use our links to value or sell your van with partners like webuyanyvan (via Rakuten) or Carwow Sell My Car (via FlexOffers). This doesn't change our estimates—they're calculated using the same published data and formula regardless of where you go next.
You can read more on our How we make money page.
Our data and methodology
We use:
- Manufacturer list prices (ex VAT) from Ford, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, Vauxhall, Citroën, Peugeot, Fiat, Toyota, Renault, Nissan, and Isuzu
- Office for National Statistics new-vehicle price inflation index (CPI series D7E8)
- SMMT commercial vehicle registration data
- Depreciation data from Cap HPI reports, Parkers, Volkswagen Van Centre whole-life-cost comparisons, and industry publications
Every number, source, and assumption is documented in our methodology page.
